6IP 2ER 10K 3BB = Win. Right?

*Photo from the Boston Globe*

When your starting pitcher goes 6 innings, gives up 2 runs, walks 3, and strikes out 10, you figure you are gonna win the game, no? Not tonight. After 3 smooth innings, the Daisuke train sort of went off the tracks in the 4th.

After getting the first out, he seemingly struck out Vernon Wells on a wicked breaking ball, but it was not called a strike. Wells then hits a slow roller to Mikey, who bare handed the ball and seemed to throw Wells out at first, but the ump ruled safe. After that the wheels came off, as Daisuke walked 3 men and somehow, with the bases loaded, managed to give up only 2 runs.

While WMP did his part with an absolute BOMB off the restaurant you ate at Corn Muffin, the boys scattered 7 hits but could only manage the one run. Seems our new guy has inherited Wake's role as "starter who pitches lights out but gets no run support".

Wake and his knuckleball get the nod tomorrow vs. Thoma Ohka.

I like our chances.

  1. you think Daiske put some soy sauce in the boys beer and so they're paying him back?? I think it's odd how all the hoopla(not to mention money) was given to him while Beckett is getting the W's.
you know I'm always gonna get in discussion on josh. :)

lets hope for Wake sake...not the drinking kind...he gets Run Support

  2. Scottie, I did reply to your unfair teasing of me re: Rusty, but it must have been on Oat Bran's blog. Several times I got in the car and drove around the neighborhood to retrieve Marino, but she was determined to get out. I'm not a dog person, but we took good care of her. Now if I could just get Ted to come get her dog house out of my back yard (it's only been about 14 months.) :)

Here's to no rain and lots of plant sales.

  3. All aboard the Wake train (which it looks like you three Sox cap-wearing folks are on in the "Dad's Girl" photo)!

  4. //Ok she is blond and not CIA OR FBI could be MICKEY MOUSE //

Scott:I aint anywhere near a blond and I am not MICKEY MOUSE.I will tell you soon enough...what I am.

  5. The umpires should not favor one guy:-)

  6. WMP homered why so I find that odd?

  7. Hi Tex: poor Daisuke just can't catch a break. 3 runs and 2 runs his last 2 games and can't get the win.

You and I are right there together on Beckett: with all the attention going to Matsuzaka and somewhat to Schilling, Beckett can quietly have a great year. Hope your business trip is going well.

Stacy, don't you want to keep the doghouse for when you buy cousin Jerry his puppy?

Hi Carol: we actually on the tram taking us from North America to the African plains part of the zoo!

  8. What in the world is kei Igawa doing? He has hit 2 batters already and its only the third.I aint watching this yankees game on purpose but,The tv wont give me the sox game...I think it knows I love to yell at wake...when I watch him pitch:-)

  9. Good: let him hit a couple of more so a brawl will break out and Arod can tear his hammy running away from Trot.

  10. Beckett is the man...Dice-K will get run support eventually (it's probably all coming from supressed anger at the size of his contract), and the Yankees will all get endorsement deals for Geritol and Life-Alert.

  11. Bran Muffin,

2-0 Sox going into the 7th.

Mikey and Dougie with solo HR's.

Wake has given up 2 hits, struck out 4, and got out of 3 straight walks with 2 out in the 4th.

And yes, my ulcer continues to develop.

  12. Make that 3-0: yard for Papi. 5th of the year.

  13. Whoo hooo!

Sox win 4-1, Wake goes 7, and Pap closed out the ninth with 3 k's, with a single and a walk between the 1st and the 2nd.

The Doc is in tomorrow vs. Julian: I'm GLAD we won tonight.

  14. Good win tonight...not too sure about Doc against Jules...unless we just bust out the whooping sticks.

What gives? 15 comments, and it's 9:40? Where are the peeps?

  15. Scotts at church, Tex is at the free bar at her hotel, and Kaylee, I'm assuming, is out whacking a snitch to the Gotti family.

Other than that, I got no clue.

  16. Cool...I'm outee. The wee-one is asleep, and we're soon to follow. Rough couple of nights lately...better sleep while I can.

  17. Bro, you are like a 75 year old in a 32 year olds body.

    Sad, sad, sad.

    ReplyDelete
  18. There is a free bar at Tex's hotel?

I love Wake---its like walking a precipice when he pitches--he coudl throw a no -hitter, or you coudl blink and he will have given up 7 runs..you never know what you are going to get...LOL

But unless the creverse lock happens tonmorrow, the Sox are toast...

  19. Hey Christine: Yeah, we may have a REALLY funny night ahead of us!

Wake was great tonight, and some big hits from Papi, Dougie, and Lowell.

And yeah: I'm more than a little worried about tomorrow. Julian vs. Roy is NOT a matchup that favors the Red Sox.

  20. and I meant to say "reverse" not "creverse" LOL

Completely fried..My sister is planning my shower and we are doing that stupid "Test your knowledge of the bride and groom" game--I don't HAVE a favorite hobby, dammit! LOL

Where are fruit loops and frosted mini wheats tonight? :-)

  21. Christine, I have no idea where multiple personality Scott is: I figure he went to church, but it's 9:45 in OK where he lives: Corn Meal went to bed already.

You can't count on them for anything.

I remember all the stuff my wife and I had to do 15 years ago: I don't envy you.

But your favorite hobby HAS to be watching the Sox!

BUT that means Ill finish tomorrow...and get to relax and have fun thurs...take a flight on friday morning...and relax some more

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, it's up there.. I also like to read (about the Red Sox) and blog (about the Red Sox)...LOL

    I really wish I had a hotel with a free bar..(sigh)

So its been established that Kaylee is now working for the mafia? I can't keep up...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tex: you gotta forgive me. You have a real job, mine is in sales, where nothing is real: free bars for salesman mean someone is wearing a lampshade on their head by the end of the night.

Not that I would have any personal experience. I've just heard things is all.

Christine, Kaylee has gotten really suspicious recently: I'm pretty sure she is Sammy "The Bull" Gravano.

    ReplyDelete
  25. ohhhh...so THAT is the new job she likes so much.....hmmm.....

Very intersting--I may have some work for her here...LOL

I work in Sales Support, I know ALL about salespeople.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Uh Oh. You know about sales people?

I have no clue what is going on, but Blogger is not letting me post a new blog. If I can't figure it out here in the next 10 minutes or so, no new post: I'm going to bed.

  27. //Kaylee, I'm assuming, is out whacking a snitch to the Gotti family.//

No ted I was out with my "group" for your information.

  28. //Kaylee has gotten really suspicious recently: I'm pretty sure she is Sammy "The Bull" Gravano.//

Why is it that even people I know think I have gotten weirder lately? Is there something I dont know about myself?

  29. I hate when computers dont do what we want them to do...

I dont know much about Blogger--sorry....:-(

I do quotes and AutoCAD drawings for our HC Salesforce..and have partied with them on occaision--Know all about that...LOL

But going to bed sounds like an excellent idea...:-) I am beat...

    Tex: Don't work too hard...:-)

    See you tomorrow!

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  30. OK, bogger has freaked out tonight apparently. Kaylee, you brought all this on yourself with the " I'll let you know who I am" stuff.

    Hopefully, a new post tomorrow.

    Goodnight everyone.
