Swept in the Bronx

*Picture from yahoosports.com*

I got out of my all day meeting today, turned on the car, and prayed for good news: what I got was John Sterling braying about WHY did they throw Joba out of the game with a 5-0 lead late in the game.

Well, John, the guy threw two consecutive pitches OVER Kevin Youkilis's head: this one day AFTER Roger drilled the Munchkin for no apparent reason other than he doesn't like guys who were born after he made his MLB debut.

The picture I wanted to use I couldn't find: from what I read, Beckett was standing on the top step yelling and cussing up a storm at Joba. Nice job rook: you just caused Slappy to take one to the ribs next month when Beckett faces the Yankees. Throwing at a guy late in the last game of a series sweep: yeah, Beckett will just let THAT go.

As for the sweep, it happened. I'm not happy about it, but life goes on. Last Monday we led the division by 4 games: tonight we lead by 5. Seems to me like we have gained a one game advantage over the past 10 days. With roughly 30 games left, that's not a bad place to be. We lost by 2 runs Tuesday, 1 last night, and going into the 8th inning, we were losing 2-0 today. Sounds like Schill did his job, it's just the bats didn't do the same.

Tomorrow starts a new day, and a new series with the Orioles. We could be back to that 8 game lead by Monday.

Plus it's the start of the always welcome "3 day weekend".

You can't beat that.

  2. oh believe me Ted...I looked for that pic of josh too. If kelly woulda been at the game, we'd had it :)

and ya right...we Texans do NOT let anyone MESS with our Crew

    ReplyDelete
  3. Tex, that's true: Kelly would have caught that epic moment!

Seriously, does he hit Cano for the 2nd baseman for 2nd baseman link, or just hit Arod out of principle? Because SOMEBODY is getting one in the ribs, the rear, or the earhole.

  4. I say Beckett while warming 'accidently throws a pitch over the bullpen into the visitors bullpen before the game hitting Jaba the Hut...Riot ensues...Jaba gets thrown out....Beckett remains intact and mounts the mound with such fury it's felt in Texas.

    A Win of course.

  5. Hollywood couldn't draw it up any better, Tex.

Except maybe the ball carooms off of Joba and hit's the Rocket, causing him fall into Pettitte and tearing both their ACL's.

    ReplyDelete
  6. YOU GUYS ARE MEAN JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Or better yet, hit Joba, hit Pettitte, then hit Slappy in the marbles.

    ::FIXED.::

    ReplyDelete
  8. //then hit Slappy in the marbles.//

    I will go for that:)

  9. Where else can someone get quality commentary like this?

    How old are we?

    :-)))))))

  10. How old are we?///

    VERY YOUNG..............:P

    ReplyDelete
  11. Becks,

I'm old school: shots to the marbles will ALWAYS be classic comedy!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I say Timlin brings his crossbow and nails (no pun intended) Jeter and ARod from the bullpen causing them to leave the game. Paps glares are so hot piercing into Johnny's soul...he leaves too.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Tex, better yet, he hits Jeter, Slappy, AND Abreu with ONE shot, pinning them all to the wall in some wicked brokeback Yankee position!

    ReplyDelete
  14. or Gagne passes off to whoever is in leftfield some banana peels to drop off in the basepaths while going to the dugout...ARod slips while running haplessly to 2nd causing him to leave the game.

    ReplyDelete
  15. YOU GUYS are cracking my up.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tex, how about this? Arod pulls that lame move sliding into second: you know the one. Throwing his elbow up and sliding late.

Only this time, Pedie jumps on his back and just punches the crap out of him, all the while never letting go of his neck.

    Papers next day report:

"Munchkin pounds Arod's face into raw meat while hanging on his back screaming WHO'S THE MUNCHKIN NOW, BITH?

  17. Meant to share this: my neighborhood has houses like mine on one side, and town homes on the other. Across the street from us, their are two female college students. As luck would have it, one of them is from Boston, as is her boyfriend.

Last night around nine, Meg and Chris knock on the door: turns out, his all time favorite player is Trot Nixon, and he gives me a Trot Nixon jersey.

He's outgrown it (yes, I'm 37 and STILL getting hand me downs) and when he heard we named our son Trot, he told Meg he wanted me to have it.

    God bless our youth.

I now have my game wear for next weekend in Baltimore: Trot on Saturday, and Tek on Sunday.

Thanks Chris: you are a true fan.

  18. Tonight this blog sounds like a bunch of NERVOUS chatter.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The combination shot: off Cano's helmet, cannon onto Arod's fat ass and then to Demon's five hole.

I'd forgotten about Labour Day. I suppose the Sox have a daygame Monday and I'll have to drag myself out of bed at 5 a.m. again. B*gger.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ted, you made me smile with the comment about Pedie jumping on Arod's back. :)

I'll join in the predictions; Beckett hits SOMEONE next series.

BTW, sorry about the sweep. Still ahead, and that's all that counts.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ::Ignores Scott's attempt at baiting me::

Horsham, I think I like your prediction even better! And I have to check the schedule, but I think Monday's game is at night, which for you means lunchtime I believe. Hope things are well.

Stacy, better to laugh than cry: have a great final day of the first week of school: don't let the little monsters get to you.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can't believe I missed all of this!

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's what happens when you go to bed at 9 and get up early to watch the grass grow, corn meal.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ok we will change the subject channel. Over on SnowPeas blog he is bragging about a 4 day weekend.
What gives JR? You passing out days off like Beckett gives up hits?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow! Most excellent neighborhood you live in, Ted! I know you guys will take a lot of pictures next weekend in your game wear, and I CANNOT wait to hear about this parTAY. I hope you all remember it well enough to blog it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Bub, don't ask me. I've been arguing with principles about school bus routes, taking Rakes to meet the teacher, back to Ciera's school, topped off with going to get something to eat and having nothing but lint in my wallet. I can't deal with personel issues today! Back at Pop's to enter orders I got WEDNESDAY: we miss you here Stacy!

Becks, it was really nice of them to bring me the jersey: the kids love the guy! And I'll be taking pictures and blogging, but I won't get home until late Sunday, then it's back to work. So it may be sometime the following week.

Don't worry though: I'll get them up faster than Tex will. I'm still waiting to see her pictures from San Diego.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well IT is with mixed emotions that I make the following statement. Since I am getting ready to open up for fall I wont have as much time to come here and talk to the inmates as I have been doing.

So the boys wont call me a bandwagoner like they have in the past. I am coming out and letting them know.

I AM A YANKEE FAN ALWAYS HAVE BEEN ALWAYS WILL BE!!!

In the words of Mr Tom Petty. " Oh my my oh hell yes baby put on your party dress."

OR in the words of the Eagles " Get over it get over it"

Thank you for your time and God bless you one and all!

    ReplyDelete
  28. You are evil. Just pure evil. And you are just a fan of whomever is wearing the ring at the end of the season, regardless of the sport.

Think about the message you are sending your son.

The Tom Petty line was pretty good, though.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Scottie NOW I dont like you ;)

\\Don't worry though: I'll get them up faster than Tex will. I'm still waiting to see her pictures from San Diego.//

    :-p Ted

    ReplyDelete
  30. See Tex, I told you he was not a nice guy, and you didn't believe me.

I figured you'd appreciate the picture comment. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Garrison saw the message and his first words were, I guess we get to go to the hat store now!

Tex I believe our relationship will be stronger, now that is behind us.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Seriously Bub,

What is WRONG with you? Do you need to be on medication?

If you buy that boy a MFY hat, I will see to it you or him NEVER get another birthday card or present again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't EVEN KNOW YOU anymore Scott!!!! ::stomps feet in disgust::

    ReplyDelete
  34. What is WRONG with you? Do you need to be on medication?

One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small, and the ones that mother give you don't do anything at all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Now you've done it: I told you all that smart aleck stuff would catch up to you one day. You've got an angry Texan and the world's busiest Mom mad at you.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ted, thats what keeps them coming back for more. It a love , hate relationship.

Where are you going this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have wanted to sing all my ex's live in Texas!

    ReplyDelete
  38. //Where are you going this weekend?//

No farther than the pool in the neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  39. You need to pack up the family a la Chevy Chase's Vacation!

  43. //Kaylee thankyou for your polite understanding//

Well you know I dont hate ALL yankees fans just the annoying ones......

  44. Evening everyone:

Well, the good feelings I had that the the Sox were up by 2 are now GONE....CRAP....

Just wanted to touch base with everyone before I leave on my trip. Hopefully we will geta win tonight, as I am srtl pretty cranky about the sweep...

Also, Ted, Scott is related to you, right? How cam someone with your blood in his veins like the Yankees? I dont understand...

    Hope everyone is well!

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  45. //Hope everyone is well!//

I am I swear although you may think I am not;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Christine. Yeah, the 2-0 lead was nice while it lasted!

Have a GREAT time on your trip, and be careful.

And Scott is related by marriage only: he had the good fortune to luck into my sister many years ago!

    ReplyDelete
  47. have fun christine!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Glad to hear you are feeling better Kaylee!

Cannot wait to get out of dodge--at least Lopez came in an was able to stop the bleeding...

whew! Glad to know its only by marriage--I haev one of those too..My sister married a VERY obnoxious Yankee fan--be he has beem quiet since 2004..LOL

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Christine, problem is, he talks so much junk, I have no idea if he means it. I DO know that growing up in Oklahoma he was a big Micky Mantle fan, so it could be true.

Though he does have a Sox hat, and as far as I know, no Yankee hat. And we all know any true fan of either team wouldn't have the other.

    ReplyDelete
  50. THANKS CHRISTINE:) who knoes hoe I will feel tomorrow though!

    ReplyDelete
  51. but this game is making me feel worse all the sudden,........

    ReplyDelete
  52. What HAPPENED? I get in the shower, and get out and the game has gone to hell in a handbasket!

    Crap!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Not yet Christine: 9-4, but we have 3 innings left and it IS the O's bullpen.

Keep the fair, and remember the Mothers Day Miracle.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hang on friends I can't hear you, I got one of those winds chimes, one chime for every WS ring the Yanks have won and I can't hear a thing for all the FREAKIN noise they are making!

OK , I took my laptop down the street so I could hear.

    ReplyDelete
  55. True...and now its 9-6...:-)

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Scotty, you know I'm like the Emporer of this blog: I can delete any comment I want to.

You are THIS close to getting banned!

    ReplyDelete
  57. LA LA LA can't hear you Scott..

Ted: How bout those Tankees today? lost 9-1 to Tampa Bay

    HA HA

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Christine, you don't mean the worse record in MLB Devil Rays do you?

    NOOOOO. Couldn't be.

Bub, you DO realize that when the Sox come back and win this game, it'll be back to a 6 game lead right?

    ReplyDelete
  59. hey Ted. Some Troll named Scott keeps posting here. I think you have the authority to delete his posts.

ok who stole the nice Scott?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ted: YUP

    Tex: well, said...:-)

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Nice Scott never existed Tex: that's what I've been trying to tell you all.

    He had you snookered.

Stick with me: I KNOW these things.

Christine, Pap is on his way to the mound: I STILL think we can win this thing.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Oh my gosh, did you see that Papelbon hit him with that pitch. Was that on purpose. Wait till next weekend I bet Manny gets dinged oh wait Manny is getting a massage.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Other than this comment, I'm ignoring you:

After Youk has been hit twice, you knew it was coming.

And when you have Manny's injury, you let me know how good you feel.

I know you are trying to be funny, but you're bordering on troll territory. And you are too good for that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Crap!

    Thought that would end differently....:-(

Leaving early tomorrow, and I will talk with you when I get back...Hopefully the Sox will get back ontrack...:-)

    Take care everyone!

    Go Sox!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Have a safe trip Christine.

    Down 9-3, end it 9-8.

I'd say they were into the game.

Facing a team that had lost 9 straight, I'd say tonight was about what you could expect: Wake out with his back, Tavarez starting unexpectedly, no Manny, no Tek, JD gets hurt, etc..

All in all, more than you could expect.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, your righth..it's just frustrating to lose 4 in a row....:-(

At least the Yankees lost as well, so they gained no ground...:-)

    Talk to you next week!
