While watching the Red Sox/Diamondbacks game tonight, the following conversation took place.
Rakes: Who him, Dad?
Me: BJ Upton. C'mon Josh.
Rakes: T'mon, Josh Beckett.
Me: Hey bud, I'm proud of you for knowing that was his last name.
Rakes: Why Toto Trisp not pitching, Dad?
Me: Coco is playing Centerfield, Rakes. Hey, you wanna know something? I love you, little man.
Rakes: I thought Toto pitched, Dad.
Me: (Puts arm around Rakes proudly, enjoying the Father/Son moment). No son, he plays in the outfield.
Rakes: Stop that, Dad.
Ah, the great game of baseball.
Still bringing Fathers and Sons together after all these years.

cute story...still doesnt get this frown off my face.
Why am I not surprised?
True story, Tex. And Beckett pitched fantastic; just one of those nights.
Edge, typical Rakes, right? Here I go trying to have a "moment" and he is having none of it.
Awwwwww... I can't wait to have similar conversations with Sierra.
Nothing like it, Redbeard. Except when they want nothing to do with your "moment"!
Again, awwh Rakes.
It was a great game to be at. Even though the people in front of me made me decide that I'm not taking my child to Fenway until they can ACTUALLY experience it, enjoy it and remember it, it rained and they lost. Great pitchers duel like I expected but oh well.
Postscript to that photo. What we don't see is that 1.6 seconds after that photo was snapped, Ted was getting beaten in the head with that bat.
Krystle, as a fan that was a great game, but the way I'm feeling would be MUCH better if they'd you know, won! And I'm with you on the taking the kids to the game; I can't wait to take mine but it'll be a few more years!
Dawn: How'd you know that? ;)
The kids in front of me the WHOLE time complained...and I mean the WHOLE time.
Oh and HAPPY JERRY REMY DAY!!!
Hate to hear that, Krystle. All I know is I'm not spending that much money for them not to appreciate/enjoy the experience.
Gotta love it when they pull that one on ya. I'm just amazed you got emotional and actually wrote about it. Did Ang really ghost-blog for you last night?
What a waste of pitching that was last night. Of course, that cat from the D-backs is no slouch, but still.
I didn't get emotional. I'm like The Terminator.
Great pitchers duel's are fun to watch, but it sucks to be on the losing end of one.
Good luck tomorrow, dink. ;)
Oh come on, Ted. There's practically a thought bubble spelling it out over his cute little head! ;-)
True, Dawn. He's currently downstairs in the toy room playing Shrek on the PS2 and giggling like a maniac and just uttered "I'm donna KILL you bad dude!"
Yeah I know. I would be flipping out the WHOLE carride if my kids acted the way they were. I was PRAYING for the 3rd, 6th, and 9th inning PRAYING!
But it was still fun. Would have been nice if they werent there. Oops, did I say that?
Yeah, I think you did Krystle.
It's OK, though. I gotta say I agree with you.
Absolutely adorable story!!! "Toto Trisp!" Hah. I love that. As if his name wasn't cute enough already?? You, sir, are fantabulous DaD!
Apologies for being so behind, too. I'm catching up today.
Thanks, Bickley. I think the same about you. And no worries on catching up; it's tough to keep up with everybody!
