Kansas City here we come

*picture from Boston.com*

It's here. After 6 long months, Opening Day is HERE. We've spent $100 million to sign a guy who's never thrown an inning in MLB, spent $70 million on a RF with a sketchy injury history but a huge upside, and $36 on an all hit/shaky glove SS who seems to have become the third amigo to Manny and Papi.

Trot's gone, Dougies back. Looks like Coco may be ready to be the guy we all thought we were getting last year, Youk and Lowell are manning the corners once more, and there is much stomach churning in RSN over the Captain. Is he in a decline, or do you chalk up the poor season last year to injury?

One thing I do know is this: Schilling is gonna be ready to go. Man has a chip on his shoulder over his perception that the FO is insulting him by not extending his deal: I've said it before that a ticked off Schilling can only be a good thing. I like the fact he feels like he has something to prove. Who would you pick if you had to select a guy to give you one start for all the marbles? Gil Meche? Or Curt Schilling?

I thought so. The lead horse takes the hill tomorrow to kick us off, and I for one am a happy man. Rakes and I will be in the tv watching position tomorrow, sitting in the big boy chair.

Amen! I hope that comes true i will be one happy woman if it does!but, right now i am just excited for tomorrow. the only problem is I have to go through the correct people and make sure i am off tomorrow. I was told i was on FRiday but then today the same lady said "i'll see you tomorrow" and I just looked at her so i dont know.....I just hope I dont have to so I can watch the game.If I do get to watch it me and my brother wil be watching it together he is entertained watching this mets game tonight. He got mad when I got up a few minutes ago and took him away from it. (though he doesnt undersstand it yet)but he will someday.

(my god i am gunna jump out of my seat if this dragonfly dont go away I hate bugs)

Why are people so stupid these days? I just sat on hold for 15 minutes with my employer to find out if I work tomorrow and still dont have a clear answer...she thinks I dont but she cant tell me for sure.....I suggested she look at the schedule on the wall but she said she didnt want too....I will call them tomorrow and hopefully get a smarter person!

I'm back, another double double for the kid. Mets look pretty good. You know Glavine and I kinda resemble each other now that he has a litte highlite in his hair, I think he is my dobleganger yea I know matt but you get the jest of the word.

KAYLEE said...

Oh we just LOVED your story about your precious little children and the church Easter Egg Hunt. Are they all little girls?

Mildred and I are trying this blog experience for the first time. Oh whoops, should i have said Mildred's name on here? Can you see me?

Now, you don't talk about baseball all the time on this do you?

Tex said...

ok I am excited about Opening day for the Red Sox...but to be in KC...

im ready for Friday!

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

Kaylee I started to ignore you but that is impossible.

Tex said...

ok ted new post for me...do i have to remind you every time???

oh btw...homefront on my 'issue': moving along really nice and slow

HorshamScouse said...

Thanks for the reminder Ted:) My morning will start with my English Premiership football team (Everton) live on satellite from 6 a.m. then Sox@KC live on MLB.com, bandwidth permitting.
Play ball!

KAYLEE said...

WAIT I am impossible to ignore now scott??????? If that is true I better watch what comes out of my mouth from now on okay I actually gotta go to school soon I cant be on vacation forever you know!Chicklets you would actually be surprised at some of the things we talk about here:)

Ted D said...

I'm speechless: chicklets? All righty then: Glad you came by!

Tex, I went to bed at 10:30 last night, which for me that happens as much as Haleys Comet. But I ALWAYS check your blog every day.

John, I thought you could use the reminder: it never gets mentioned. :)

And Scott: falling down while getting rejected going in the paint is not a double double.

Chicklets: Who is this?

Ted D said...

OK, Scott is denying he's chicklets, so we may never know. I only know it's not to little old ladies 'cause they posted at 11:45 pm, and anyone over the age of 65 has been in bed a good 4 hours by then!

VTek said...

If a "ticked-off Schilling" does wonders for the team, offending players may be a strategy that Theo may want to (continue) to pursue in the future -lol.

Ted D said...

I'll second that Carol: maybe we can email Theo and give him our thoughts!

Here we go Red Sox, here we go: clap, clap

Tex said...

i saw that chicklets post and resisted the urge to curse :)

Ted D said...

Tex, I don't know if it's a troll, or just one of my nutjob family memebers. It has Scott written all over it.

No big deal either way.

You ready for today?

Christine E. said...

Whooo Hoooo!

Here we go.....these last few hours are killing me...

Already found the channel on Direct TV (741) and I am ready to go!

Happy Opening Day everyone!

Go Sox!

Tex said...

i am SO READY for today!! Ill be home watching the game AND waiting on FedEx to deliver my Opening Day ticket!!! I live in a Dream

Ted D said...

Hey Christine: It's also on ESPN if the Extra Innings is showing the Royals feed and not NESN. It's finally here!

The Royals announcers are, well, lets just say they leave a little bit to be desired.I'm watching the Jays/Tigers game right now, and Toronto looks as good this year as last year: 3-0 Blue Jays, bottom of the first.

Tex, you knocking off early? I didn't know you govt types did that. ;)

Tex said...

im working through lunch Ted...and I got here at 6:30am....so I am covered!!

i wont get to see Wed and Thurs games cos ill be on the road unless espn shows one of them...
oh well i guess the fact im gonna BE AT ALL 3 GAMES IN TEXAS makes up for it :)

Ted D said...

Tex, Sunday nights game is on ESPN. You gotta take your flag and wave it like mad so you get on TV!

Glad you get to see the game today. I'm going to pick Ciera up from school in an hour and then my butt does not leave the chair.

Except of course to jump and yell and/or curse at random!

I love Opening Day.

Tex said...

well ya know i usually only WAVE the Texas flag if a TEXAN is playing...i dont think Schill qualifies. and timlin wont be closing...Beckett wont be pitching...people will think Im a Texan fan if I wave the flag!

Ted D said...

That's true Tex. Still, think of some way you can get on tv so we can see you.

BTW, you are gonna love DirecTV: they have got this thing called Game Mix where you can watch up to 8 games at once! You can switch from sound to sound, then just pick the one game to watch!

My sickness just got 1000% worse!

We (Mildred and I) weren't aware that we had to write so many times a day on here in order to keep up.

Now Ted d, if i write you, you write back on here? Or does a letter come in the mail? If so, I am not sure it is safe to give out our address on the internet. Arnold, the man that owns the drug store on Main street, told me a story once about a man getting a woman's address off the internet and then going to her house and flat out killing her in her sleep. Death is already knocking on our door, we dont need him to plow it down quite yet.

Mildred and I were down at the bingo hall all night, and once we got home we were much too wired to go to sleep. So, yes, these two old ladies commented on your blog at 11:45pm.

Tex said...

I33

Ted D said...

Chicklets,

I can see you.

Tex, what does 133 mean?

Tex said...

Ted D said...

Tex,

I still have no idea what that means! Hopefully, Schilling has settled down.

Tex said...

KAYLEE said...

TEX I cant come to believe those chicklets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!one bit.

Tex said...

game is sucking

Ted D said...

//jeeeeeeeez Ted
the chicklets played BINGO...
I 33
BINGO //

Oh. Gotcha.

Yep: the game sucks big time. I'm not giving up yet, though that was quite the bomb that Buck hit of Okajima.

Kaylee, we have to be polite to our elders.

KAYLEE said...

I am sorry I couldnt resist TED!

KAYLEE said...

okay I am probably leaving for the night now I am too upset.......and it aint game related i found out sad news so I will be back tomorrow night and hopefully happier.

Christine E. said...

well, THAT could have went better....(sigh)

I even did an in game blog to honor the event, and Schill implodes on the mound...what a letdown...

CRAP!

How did your boys like the game?

Hope you are well!

Ted D said...

Hey Christine: they were asleep until around 5, but Rakes got to see Papi and Manny hit, so he was happy. When I told him they were coming up, he said "and durt Shiing coming after 'dem".

Only time I smiled after the first inning.

I'm good and I hope you are as well.

Beckett on Wed night, so I'm confident in a win. :)

Kaylee, I hope have a better day tomorrow.

KAYLEE said...

thank you ted just a little emotional tonight:)

Tree Newt said...

Ok, I'm wondering myself who Chicklets is/are. I don't think it's Bub, but ya never know.

Kind of glad I didn't get to see the game. Hope Schill can put it together next time. And hope the boys can find home plate.

On a positive note: JD Drew didn't get hurt. I know I wasn't the only one thinking he blows a knee on opening day.

Ted D said...

Hey Raisin Bran: yeah it was pretty fugly. I didn't get to hear the post game interview of Schilling so I'm wondering what he said. He looked pretty disgusted with himself in the dugout.

Hopefully just a bad day and there is nothing physically wrong.

And yes, JD made it the whole game: laced a single and drew a walk.

I'm also starting to get a LITTLE worried about Tek. Just a little bit.

KAYLEE said...

HEY TREE SQUIRREL: Okay I am not worried about JD DREW getting hurt as much as I am josh beckett.......I got another name for him but,I would never hear the end of it if I said it infront of TED so I will keep it my self!TED teach your family what being a sox fan is all about please......WHERE is SCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I need to to tell him something!!!!

KAYLEE said...

//I'm also starting to get a LITTLE worried about Tek. Just a little bit.//

Hey I like when he produces on the field but.......he as a person I wont name specifics you know where I am going though are GREAT TOO:]

Tree Newt said...

Kaylee, sometimes I have no idea what you are talking about. And Beckett is nails. Period.

Teddy, Tek will be fine. Don't worry about the captain.

KAYLEE said...

TREE SQUIRREL,

Trust me alot of people question what I say sometimes.....You arent the only one!!!!!!!!

KAYLEE said...

BUT if he is nails that means he shouldnt get hurt?!CAuse they are strong!!!!!!

Ted D said...

Kaylee, are you manic depressive? Because you go from one extreme to another.

Or are you just a teenager? It's been awhile since I was 15 so I have a tough time remembering.

KAYLEE said...

its part of being a strange TEENAGER TED!

Ted D said...

You said it, not me.

KAYLEE said...

Oh I will make sure that one aint on you:)

KAYLEE said...

of course there are things that I do blame on you guys:)

KAYLEE said...

I think scott influences me sometimes.

Mildred speaking:

Looks like it's been quite a long day in the world of baseball. However, Myrtle and I spent the afternoon at the beauty shop getting our hair set for the week, so we missed the game. Who won?

That Kaylee girl needs to listen to you Ted d, and respect her elders.

Tree squirrel? Raisin bran? Fugly? What does all this mean?

Ted D said...

Mildred and Myrtle:

We lost sadly. I'm sure you ladies look lovely with your new hair do's.

I don't have the time to explain Raisin Bran, Tree Squirrel, or fugly now.

Rest assured, if you keep reading, you will figure it out. By the way, I'm very impressed with the late hours ladies of your age are keeping: it gives us young folks hope you know.
