Hopefully, they got the number on that train.

Took the kids to the local city park tonight, which has a car ride, an airplane ride, a train, and an honest to God working carousel: first time for Trot and it was a huge success.

Along for the trip was my much less attractive little brother Matt, his wife Amanda, and his little girl, Sweet Caroline. We rode the carousel first, and something tells me Trot and Caroline won't want to get back on it anytime soon. For Trot, I think it was the horse he was on going up and down: I have no idea why Caroline didn't like it. For now, I'll blame her Dad.

Otherwise, it was a hit: Rakes rode the helicopter ride like he was some WWII pilot, Ciera was pre-teen dignified riding her Ostrich on the carousel, and I alternated between calm and harried, depending on where Rakes was at any given minute.

Best ride of the night? The train: it goes around the park 3 times, and as you can see from the picture, my youngest wasn't scared in the least: in fact, he jibber jabbered more on this ride than he did at any of the others.

It proved to be a good omen, as Beckett and the Red Sox treated the Devil Rays like a pinata tonight: 15-4 , with 21 hits. Beckett get's win #12, and with any justice, the starting nod in the All-Star game. When Coco hit the granny in the first making it 6-0, I relaxed. When Lowell hit the 3 run HR one inning later, I put on my slippers, propped up my feet, and relaxed.

No Tums: no nervous pacing: and no hiding behind the couch tonight for me. Just a good old fashioned beat down of the team we get to face 15 more times this year: yep, you heard me. 15 more vs the Rays and 12 more vs the Orioles. I'm positively giddy at the thought.

Somebody really, REALLY, likes the Red Sox.

Glad that the Sox gave you your paper, pipe & slippers tonight Ted (and consider this post officially christened)!

Glad it was you who christened it Carol: and he's a handsome devil isn't he? Takes after his Mom, fortunately.

Every time I see a picture of your boy I think of Jack Nicklaus for soem reason!

I missed the beat down today for a rotten training course but a nice round 12 game lead over the Irrelevants and the Jays makes up for it.

Glad the kids had fun; thanks for taking Jared, too. Trot probably liked the train best because it was the fastest!

Mikey hit a 3 run homer? That's my boy! :)

Tex, was wondering where you were: it's not like you to miss a Beckett start!

Horsham, now that you mention it, he does look a bit like Jack: I guess it's the white-blonde hair. Sorry you missed the game: those are a welcome break from the gut bustining one run games we've had recently.

Carol, that movie remains to this day one of the few movies to give me the willies: that scene at the end with him chasing that kid in the snow is freaky.

Stacy, yep Mikey has 14 HR's on the year and we're not even at the All-Star break: I hope Theo is paying attention.

Ted a friend of mine came into town wanting to go out to an event we have each month: 1st Thursday...had a blast hanging out and i made some new gf's too. Put a pair of cowboy boots ive been admiring for a year on layaway at Allens Boots...they cost $400...so i couldnt bring myself to pay for them outright..ive got 90 days to get them. :) They're dark brown goat skin with turquoise stars design on them!

Goatskin with turqoise stars? Watch out Austin!!

Tex, you make ME tired with your social life: I don't see how you have the energy. Of course, you don't have Ciera, Rakes, and Trot to chase after either!

So you'll be in Boston for a whole week then. I'm envious.
