Lil' Manny and taking 3 out of 4

*Picture from the Boston Globe*

After dinner at my folks house tonight, all us kids headed to the culdesac for a little whiffle ball, where Ciera, Rakes, Jared, Garrison, and Karianne played a spirited, rules made up as they go along, ball game.

Arriving home, I checked the pictures from today's game, found this one of Manny after his 1st inning dinger, and came to the following conclusions.

First, put up a picture from tonight's whiffle ball game of Rakes after he got ahold of one, and it's almost identical.

Second, his first T ball coach is going to rip me apart for all the hot dog moves Rakes has picked up watching the Sox games with me and seeing Manny and Papi in action.

As for the real game today, the Sox took 3 out of 4 from the White Sox, and I enjoyed it tremendously. Even though MDC and Pap turned a 8-1 lead into a 8-5 ulcer inducer, getting to see Manny and Mikey go yard is always a welcome sight.

Not even the fact that the Yankees scored roughly half a year's worth of runs in 3 games vs. the Devil Rays can take my joy away. How do you give up 17 and 21 runs like the D-Ray pitchers did on CONSECUTIVE days?

Off to play the Indians and see old friend Trot Nixon for the next 4 games, with Jon Lester getting the start in Cleveland tomorrow night.

From being diagnosed with cancer, to treatment, to working his way back to health in Spring Training and 3 months in the minor's, Lester's been an inspiration to anyone who knows his story.

God bless you Jon: It's good to have you back.

The culdesac game was definitely rules made up, and some crazy man appointed himself umpire, calling people out, and threatening to throw little children out of a wiffle ball game for arguing with him. :)

Rakes' best move is the figure 8's he runs after he hits the ball. Bases? What bases?

Hope Lester has a GREAT night tonight. After all he's overcome, he deserves one. God bless him.

All I remember is Garrison jacking you like a flat on a semi.

Hey Carol: figured you and D had a busy weekend. No new posts for you means you're running around like crazy!

Stacy, SOMEBODY had to take charge: Scott was doing absolutely nothing to help the situation! Speaking of, it wasn't me he was taking BP against, it was you. If I had not had our family's version of Wily Mo Pena playing the outfield, he would have been out: I did strike him out and get him to feebly ground back.

raghu, thanks for stopping by.

Please dude: you looked like Tek trying to catch Wake's knuckleball back there. You're to used to them goalie gloves.

Nice job by Lester getting out of the bases loaded jam and no outs.

Just turned the game on...bottom of 5th. Looks like Lester has had pretty good stuff.

And my glove hand is like buttah!

Mr. Varitek called, and said you are out of the catching community.

Mattie, same Lester: walking the tightrope but getting it done! It's great to see him back out there: win or lose, he's already won.

You dang skippy. The game is a sidenote compared to his health.

Did I tell you Trot is sick, Ang is out at the hen meeting, Rakes has my football helment and a sword on playing Bibleman, and Bub leaves me hanging to go listen to Peter, Paul, and Mary with Keith?

Stacy said...

We are not "hens". And Keith and Scott were watching the Sox when I came in.

So there.

I will agree that no matter the outcome of the game, Lester won. :)

Ouch...I'm feeling ya. Baby C went over to see PaPa and NaNa tonight, and NaNa brought her back after about 20 minutes, snubbing and sniffing. She said she kept going to the door and doing the sign for more, meaning, she wanted to go home. When she got here, she was not too happy. Tired, and with a mean case of diaper rash. I just got her down for the night. Whew...

Tell Trotty I hope he feels better.

Stacy, what are you doing up at this unGodly hour? If I'd known you were here I'd have said she was at th garden club.

Corn Muffin, don't know what is wrong with him: crying, whining, and no appetite. Which is REALLY weird.

Lester has settled down nicely. Tell Caroline in the morning her favorite Uncle said hello: she'll feel better instantly!

Trot not eating? Is he teething?

New stuff at the perch, by the by.

I'm thinking that's what it is. Hopefully not some bug.

Do I need my hip waders?
