As I eagerly anticipated the return of Jon Lester to the rotation tonight, I came home and found the following: Rakes, buck naked in his sisters room. Upon asking him what in the world was he doing, he pointed to Ciera's Barbie dolls on the floor and said "dey not have any toles on Dad". 45 minutes later, after explaining that boys and girls don't take clothes off unless they are bathing or going to sleep, I find this.
Trot, with a red cowboy hat on his head, and Rakes taking the string and making a hangman's noose around Trots neck: I honestly don't know how much more my heart can take. Thank the Lord Ang is heading to the beach on Saturday with her folks for a week. Otherwise, I was seriously considering investing in one of those portable cardiac arrest machines to keep around the house, just in case.
Seeing Lester make his return to the mound tonight was a "it's a bit dusty in here" moment for sure. 6 innings, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, and 6 K's. Not too bad for a guy diagnosed with cancer less than a year ago. Just a ballsy outing all the way around. Mike Timlin, Javier Lopez, and MDC finished it out, and the Sox win 6-2.
No matter what the MFY's and Blue Jays do tonight, it won't matter. The Sox will have lost no ground in the standings, and gained a bit in the "feel good" category.
Jon Lester kicked cancer in the marbles and came back to pitch in the big league's.
It doesn't get much better than that.

Great to see Lester out there again. What a feel-good story, eh? MDC redeemed himself after the hiccup yesterday, too. All around, good to see.
On the home front, bro, I got nothing for you! CLASSIC! Can't wait to see how all this plays out! You know, I think you might really be looking forward to the ol' beach trip.
i AM glad that lester pitched a great game tonight!
I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!! Ok just dropping in all my sites to say howdy and its good to be back in Austin! although i already miss Boston. :(
There's no crying in baseball!
What a great return for Jon. I just got through watching the game on DVR and it got a little dusty in Waitangirua. I blame the wind off the Tasman.
Ted, his stats don't tell the story. The fact that he was back on the mound in Fenway tells the story.
Way to go, Jon.
Texas, WELCOME BACK!! We missed you around here: can't wait to hear all about the trip to Boston. I'm sure you left broken hearts and unpaid tabs in your wake!
Horsham, can I blame the wind off the Tasman as well? 'Cause it got a little dusty here also.
Mattie, I'm looking at their beach trip as a chance to decompress: hopefully it'll do the trick.
Stacy, they are in Cleveland, so back on the mound will have to do the trick, just not at Fenway.
Ted I dont skip out on tabs.....I just get the boys to pay for them :)
oh no broken hearts...just smiling faces :)
Why did I ever doubt you? ;)
Smiling, laughing faces left in your wake: I can buy that.
//I just get the boys to pay for them :)//
Ahem.
well that is unless hayes is around :)
I was talking about the nights when I was on my own...hell my last night I had to stay in Somerville...went down to the bar to drink ONE beer...and after drinking it...I had given a couple of irish lads and their american friend some pointers of where to go...and they bought me another beer
hell I even had the bartender thursday night buy me a beer :)
hayes, you buy Tex a round and she not give you credit?
Texas: shame on you.
Tex, if you can get the guy SERVING the drinks to buy you one, you are in the wrong line of work.
Have you ever considered a career in furniture sales? ;)
ted we were swapping buying beers at one point...besides I provided hayes much entertainment :)
//besides I provided hayes much entertainment :)//
This, I have NO doubt about!
Can't wait to hear all the stories Tex.
Ted Im just friendly and nice
You forgot funny and sweet Tex.
Ang is already asking when you are coming to visit!
at the game JET and I were at were 2 father and son sets. Apparently they were from the same town and knew who each other was but didnt know each other...small world huh? both were celebrating their son's birthdays..both first games for the boys...they each had a sign I had mine...and STILL NESN ignored us! Grrrrrrrrr!!
one of the fathers I took a pic of and he's supposed to email me for the copy of it.
Nice Tex: looking forward to taking Rakes and Trot to their first Sox game one day.
The older I get, the more the movie "Field of Dreams" means to me: they grow up so fast, as you know.
Evening everyone:
Jon Lester WAS amazing last night, wasn't he? :-)
Your kids are a riot Ted...and you are damn lucky you have such a wonderful wife...
These 1-0 games make me very nervous...
Got my certifed marriage certificated in the mail today...guess its all official now...LOL 11 days married! Really doesn't feel any different than before...:-)
Hope everyone is well!
Go Sox!
Hi Christine: and yep, it was great to see Lester back and pitching well last night.
//Your kids are a riot Ted...and you are damn lucky you have such a wonderful wife...//
Yes they are, and Yes I am! Though, the funny stuff I really don't appreciate until after the fact, for some strange reason. ;)
The 1-0 games are nerve racking for sure: OKJ did his job, let's just hope the Papelbot does the same.
And congrat's on being officially married: I hope you have 50+ years to enjoy ahead of you.
::pouts that I wasn't able to get to put gravel in your hubcaps::
I told you if you wanted to drive up here you were more than welcome to put gravel in my hubcaps, which would have been a challenge, since my Jeep was at the hotel, about 10 miles from the ceremony/reception location...LOL
Who the hell spells thier name jhohny???
Go Sox!
I'd have found you Christine: trust me.
You got married in Dalton, PA, right?
That's my last name: I know people. ;)
And I have no idea who would do that: probably the same type of folks who would name their son Rakes!
cmon paps get this!!!!!
