Are You Ready For Some Football?

Trot was ready at lunchtime today.

Although I'm not quite sure why he HAD to have his Red Sox hat on, but the boy wasn't about to eat without his "Ha"; we're still having a time with our T's.

After that nirvana known as naptime, I figured a good way to kill some time was to take the monkeys outside to play while Ang ran some errands with Trot. And it WAS a good idea until Ang called, asking me to go inside and read her the grocery list.

As I reach the door to go back outside, Ciera bursts in hollering something about Rakes throwing stuff at her and the neighbor kid Josh; turns out it was half the pine straw in our front yard and it now rested on my driveway. Why would he throw pine straw? It doesn't hurt, you can't throw it far, and, well, it's PINE STRAW. I guess I should be grateful he ignored the 2 skateboards and the air pump lying nearby; although it would have been a whole lot easier to pick those up than sweep the stupid pine straw back into the yard.

I missed the Opening Kickoff, the house sounded like Chuck E. Cheese on a Saturday afternoon for most of the night, and Rakes went down about 5 minutes ago; it's not even 9 p.m. yet.

Never thought I'd say this, but it makes me miss West Coast baseball games starting at 10 p.m. and playoff baseball that doesn't begin until 8:30.

That way I get to have the best of both worlds; I can put my kids to bed without my blood pressure reaching stroke levels AND see all of the game.

I'm all about the simple things in life.

The poll for what color the RSD blog should be is now closed, and blue won with a resounding 50% of the vote. Of course, there were only 22 votes, so resounding may be pushing it. Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote; I appreciate the input.

cos voting IS what matters.

im glad I am not so vested in this game cos id be headbanging bout right now.

Ted D said...

Yes it is, Tex.

And I'm with you; although I want the Pats to win, it won't be the end of the world if they lose. At least for me.

Though I would like to see history made, all it really means is we're one day closer to baseball.

Tex said...

it is amazing how few points have been scored tonight. and how the pats are not performing as they have been all season

Ted D said...

I was thinking the same thing. Pretty low scoring affair for a Super Bowl. And even though it's close, it'd been sort of blah until the Moss touchdown.

I'm with you; glad I'm not really vested in this thing or I'd be a wreck.

Tex said...

well I really have wasted alot of time this evening. I dont think i can lose any weight just with my fingers

Ted D said...

It's OK, Tex. We all need to waste some time every now and then.

It's good for the soul or something.

Tex said...

this is the longest minute in the entire earth

Ted D said...

I can't believe this game; the Giants have really surprised me.

Tex said...

well ya know if they would have won...the media would have not let up in why the won..all the filmingcrud and all.

Tree Newt said...

Uh-Oh

Tree Newt said...

Well, you got part of your score prediction right:

NY 17

Tree Newt said...

HOW BOUT ELI!!!!?????

Where's Tiki now?

Tree Newt said...

18-1!!!!

Tree Newt said...

Sorry for the obnoxiousness, but you gotta love that. All the crap Eli took this year, all the stuff about the Pats being the best team ever...

It's so much fun to watch a game when you have no real attachment. I'm actually genuinely happy for NY.

Wow...has that ever been said on this blog?

Ted D said...

Mattie, I'll be the first to admit I never thought the Giants had it in them. They played a great game and literally shocked the world.

This has got to be considered one of the greatest upsets in football since Namath and the Jets beat the Colts.

Ted D said...

//I'm actually genuinely happy for NY.

Wow...has that ever been said on this blog?//

Nope; and I'm pretty sure it never will again.

What a game.

Tex said...

newt that pic of you really has me worried

Ted D said...

Thank you, Tex. I told him the same thing.

He looks like some serial bomber or something.

Tree Newt said...

Tex, it was me goofing with the Mac the first night I had it up. It's so bizarre, I had to use it!

Tree Newt said...

And are you two trying to change the subject at hand?

Tex said...

what subject?? we never have an agenda here.

Tree Newt said...

Oh, you know what subject I'm speaking of

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

Over rated clap clap clapclapclap. over rated clap clap clapclapclap. Now I can wear my Giants hat.

Tree Newt said...

BUB!!! I was wondering where you were!

Tree Newt said...

Wear it proudly, Bub, wear it proudly!

Tree Newt said...

Serious question:

Have 2 brothers ever quarterbacked 2 straight superbowls?

Tree Newt said...

Wins, that is. Has that ever happened?

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

Thank you Newt. Lets take over the blog while the inmates are gone.

Tree Newt said...

It looks as if we have, Bub.

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

I don't believe so. How was your day? Bummed about not getting to strum?

Ted D said...

Like Tex said, WE never had a dog in the fight. Unlike Bub, who was in his prime in '72, I have no memory of the Dolphins going unbeaten, only the sad knowledge my 'Skins couldn't beat them.

I was hoping for history to be made so I could see it happen, but the Giants played a GREAT game. They deserve to win.

I feel for my New England friends, but in reality, this is just one more day closer to Red Sox baseball.

And why am I not surprised Bub has a Giants hat? He's probably got a Pats hat in there, just in case. ;)

Ted D said...

Matttie, I'm pretty sure this is a first. In fact, I can't think of any other brother combo to play in the NFL at quarterback, though I may be wrong.

Tree Newt said...

I'm just happy they won because I got so much crap for saying I was pulling for them.

Tree Newt said...

And wasn't Peyton MVP last year?

Ted D said...

Pretty sure Peyton did win MVP last year.

And you didn't get crap for that; you got crap for being the Newt.

BIG difference. ;)

Tree Newt said...

No, I'm pretty sure I got crap for saying I was pulling for the Giants.

Now, the rest of the time, yes, it was for being the Newt.

But in this case, I recall very vividly it was for saying I was pulling for NY

Tex said...

uhmmm you guys do KNOW and realize that blogs are usually for people who dont talk alot?? i mean...two of you see each other on a regular basis...and the other...well enough regular basis...and here you have this entire convo going on...

and Scottie and Mattie..what part of we dont care if the pats win or not dont you understand

Tree Newt said...

Tex, you can't dog us for talking on this thing. Most nights, the first 10 comments are you, then Ted, then you, then Ted...

Ted D said...

Ah, let's face it Tex. We're all to cheap to spring for the phone call, I'm usually here at night, and what else have we got to do?

Tree Newt said...

Well, I'm outta here. I came and commented. I even had a congratulatory speech ready for all the Pats fans if they had won. It will have to be put on ice, however.

For all you Pats fans, I am sorry. It sucks to get that close and lose. Been there, done that. But cheer up! got 3 already, and you've got the 2nd best record in history, and the best regular season in history. And, more importantly, as Ted said, Baseball is right around the corner, and the Sox enter as champs.

Tex said...

im just messing with ya. its funny how you boys rag each other on here just as much as I assume you do in person :)

Ted D said...

Oh, it's worse in person Tex.

We're all pretty lazy; if we typed as fast as we thought, it'd be insane.

JMP said...

Ted,
Great game tonight, eh?

Ted D said...

jmp, I'm happy for you and my other Giant fan friends. While it would have been great to see history made, the Giants made their own history.

Gotta be the greatest win in the NFL since Joe Willie beat the Colts.

Giants played a heck of a game and deserved to win.

Would that be Chuck E. Chee? ;-)

::resumes making her Eli Manning voodoo doll & muttering about Belichick not knowing better than to *not* wear The Hoodie for the Super Bowl::

Ted D said...

Chee!, Dawn.

And I'm glad you have a sense of humor about now.

VERY sorry the Pats didn't win, and I was pulling for 'em.

And Bill not wearing the gray hoodie? What is up with that?

~**Dawn**~ said...

I swear 'Chee!' is my new favorite phrase! Thanks, Trot! =)

As a lifeling Boston sports fan, I am accustomed to disappointment & have mastered the art of losing gracefully. ;-)

I am thinking Tito needs to have a sit-down with Bill and chat about how we DO NOT MESS WITH SUPERSTITION. Stupid red hoodie.

Ted D said...

Dawn, I'll pass the word on in the morning. And the fact you are getting a kick out of my kid's speech impediments is great!

Bill should have never messed with the mojo.

~**Dawn**~ said...

It's not a speech impediment. He's two. =P Which means it's just cute as heck.

Ted D said...

Dawn, you should hear him say "Please".

"Pee" has never sounded so cute.

~**Dawn**~ said...

See this was why I majored in Child Development. Because when they are this age, they are so stinking cute. Even when they're driving you up one wall & down another. I think 'cute' was something God went with as a survival tactic for children. Otherwise humans would have died out a long time ago. ;-)

JMP said...

Hey Ted,
Love that picture of Trot in the Sox hat.
He looks so much like My Alexa at that age..same pale skin, long blond hair and food everywhere!!!

I have to dig up a photo of her looking like that and post it for you...

Ted D said...

Dawn, I think you're right. God helps us forget about all that stuff. Otherwise, we'd go insane.

And jmp, I'd love to see a picture of your daughter as a future Sox Player.

~**Dawn**~ said...

There is a reason for quote (which I paraphrase): Now I understand why some animals eat their young. LOL! We used to have days like that in daycare from time to time. And it's contagious. When one would start, the other seven would jump on the bandwagon. We used to look at each & say "Calgon take me away." LOL

JMP said...

Ya know....
During the Super Bowl tonight, The one thing I really wanted to see... was Manny!!!! and did they show him?? NO!!!!

So disappointing..
And Tom Petty is starting to look like Gandalf!!!

Cheered for the Giants tonight and they won. But I have to say, were they low on half-time entertainment budget or what? So I guess that means next year they're bringing the Bay City Rollers or the Monkeys. Hmmmm? Think I was a little miffed at the 1/2 time show? Just a tad!

Ted D said...

jmp, I read yesterday where the Patriots offered Manny some tickets but he decided to watch from home. But man, that would have been some good stuff.

Dawn, feeding frenzy is a pretty good term for it. It's 7:30, Trot is running a car into the wall, Rakes and Ciera are playing Star Wars and having a shouting match, and Ang is in the bed with the pillow over her head.

Happy Monday everyone.

Pine straw? I can understand. They need to focus on the *form* of throwing stuff. When they have good form, they can pick up and throw stuff that hurts.

I think I'm afraid to have kids now. Well, more afraid than I was.

p.s. I met the creator of 24 over the weekend!

Redbeard76 said...

That boy needs a haircut.

I'm not that bummed about the game, the better team won. Any given sunday, dude. The offensive line leaked like a sieve.

Stacy said...

Glad the Giants pulled out a win. I was really hoping they would, mainly because of Eli. :)

The back to back wins AND MVP wins by brothers is very cool.

Stacy said...

BTW, Trot had his sports bib on, so the Sox hat went along perfectly.

And Tex, they ARE worse to each other in person. Funny, but worse. :)

Tree Newt said...

Oh come on sis! We're not THAT bad. I mean, it's not like Ted or Scott ever loaded a sock with batteries and beaned me in the...

Oh wait. Maybe we are that bad.

Ted D said...

Nichole, you met the creator of 24?! Did you get me an autograph you can scan and email? ;) And don't let my heathens scare you off; most people have normal children.

Stephen, we're getting through winter and then I think they are coming off; but I'm fighting the move, so we'll see. As a Redskin fan, my only hope was a perfect season and a close game; one outta two isn't bad.

Stacy, not a Manning fan, not because of football, but because you can't turn a tv on and not see a commercial of him. Although I did like the one with Archie, Eli, and him at ESPN.

Mattie, you act like all that scarred you for life.

Wait a minute...

beckperson said...

Love that picture of Trot! It's especially nice with 300 miles or so between us. :)

Ted D said...

But Becks, I'd already told them you and Bobbers were coming down for a visit!

Dinnertime is like an extreme eating contest every night; you just hope there are no casualties.
