It's Time

There are a few words or sentences in life that make this sleep deprived, stressed out Father of 3 happy.

"It's Opening Day!"

"Kids, it's time for bed."

"Play Ball!"

"I love you, Dad."

"Sir, the psychiatrist will see you now."

Today? It's just 3 simple words. Three words you hear everyday, but put in the same context?

They are AWESOME.

It's January 11, 2009.

Jack.

Is.

BACK.

I realize this, Mattie. But I can't help myself; I've been watching the previews all day and I'm jacked up!

Marc, thanks buddy. And sorry about your Giants today; I'm pulling for the Cardinals from here on out.

I know Jr. I'm no longer surprised, which is why I used the quote. Much like Jerry was never surprised by Kramer, I'm seldom (notice, not NEVER) surprised by you.

And I say here's to a Chargers/Cards game played in between the spectacle known as "The Greatest Commercials of the Year!"

Looks like it may be a Ravens/Cards game, Mattie. Rivers stunk it up again.

Me and Cosmo, huh?

I can see that.

Ted. There are support groups

Ted D said...

Support groups? For what?

Just because I believe a fictional tv character is our greatest American doesn't make me crazy, Tex.

Tex said...

well support groups or psychotropic drugs

I'm starting to get a complex.

I hope it lived up to all your hype. There's a new House episode due this week. Now there's a fictional character to believe in.

Ted D said...

It did, John. One of the best opening episodes to date and another 2 hours tonight. WOOT!

Ang loves House, but I just can't get into it.

What? No love for the Steelers? :)

How about the Steelers/Cards? That way I'd be happy whoever won.

Ted D said...

OK, Stacy. Steelers/Cards. But they have to get past the Ravens first, and that isn't going to be easy.

I'm going to predict Steelers-Eagles. And the Steelers will win. I don't feel like I'm jinxing anyone, since I really couldn't care less. But that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. :) Also, I found this funny quote on Wikipedia's 2004 ALCS page:

[edit] References in pop culture
On an episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart the following dialogue was spoken between Jon Stewart and Rob Corddry:
Stewart: "They have the Yankees where they want 'em? Rob, it's over. The Red Sox beat the Yankees. ...
Corddry (interrupting): "Don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, Jon, Jon, Jon, you're gonna jinx it, man. You're gonna jinx it! Something could still happen. Umm, there could be a forfeit. Or the pennant could go through Buckner's legs, I don't know. Derek Jeter could fly counterclockwise around the Earth really, really fast until it's the night before like Superman did. It's the Yankees, Jon. They're always pulling crap like that."

... Is it April yet?? Wait, I take that back; I don't think I'm ready to be 25...

Ted D said...

Sarah, that sounds about as good as anything. And an all PA Super Bowl would be pretty sweet.

25 in April, huh? I've only got you by 14 years.

::sigh::

Tex said...

so did Jack save the world? cos if not, perhaps someone on grey's anatomy, desperate housewives or the bachelor can

Im just sayin

Ted D said...

He didn't save the world; but he saved Tony Almeada, which is almost just as good.

Tex, I've got 3 kids, I work 48 hours a week, and I live for baseball season. Will you cut me some slack? ;)
