Future Job? Mafia Enforcer

See that sweet, angelic face? That's the face of a 3 year old whose Dad is afraid will get banned from playschool. Yes, playschool.

Seems as if Rakes did not like "nonner" (Conner) pushing him down the other day, so he decided the way to settle it was to choke his little buddy out, UFC style. Needless to say, when Angie picked him up that day, his teacher Mrs. Kelly was not happy to deliver the news that Rakes spent 30 minutes in time out. In the director's office. Simply put, Ang was mortified.

We think he picked this particular move up, from all places, watching Toy Story where Woody and Buzz have a fight. This is not Rakes first rodeo with getting into trouble at school: "plays well with others" is not gonna be in his final report.

I have no clue what I am gonna do with this kid, other than love him to death and hope that this too shall pass. Sweet as he can be, fun loving and seemingly with no Empty in his tank, he's got a mean streak that Bob Gibson would envy.

In other news, there is now a soccer net hanging at the bottom of my stairs, our latest attempt to keep Trot from practicing for HIS future job as a stunt man by falling head over heels down the stairs. His forehead looks like a pro wrestler who has bladed himself for around 15 years or so. For those of you who know me and my neat compulsion, you can imagine how much I LOVE a soccer net decorating my living room. If it keeps Trot from needing a full body cast at age 1, it's worth it's weight in gold.

Finally, the Sox took the field tonight hoping to sweep the Blue Jays at Rogers Center.

Mission accomplished. Wake goes to 4-3, going 7 strong innings. 1 in the first, 6 in the third, led by Lowell's 7th dinger of the year, this one a 3 run shot to make it 7-0. Youk doubled in the 8th run, and Okajima and Romero pitched the 8th and the 9th.

A sweep of the 3 game series with the Blue Jays and it was never close: 26 runs for the Red Sox vs. 5 for the Blue Jays for the 3 games.

Back home for a 3 games with the Orioles, with Julian, Schilling, and Beckett this weekend.

23-10 with a 7 game lead sounds pretty good to me.

Me too Tex. The Sox are right on track.

My boys, however, are HUGE contibutors to my insomnia. I just need to learn how to go with the flow. I think if I had not started out with a girl I would not be so locked up: she spoiled me.

Ted thank your lucky stars your girl was good...

kids test you. You better study hard

Hope Rakes grows out of it.

It's not just boys: my great-niece was thrown out of daycare for similar stuff and, oddly, she could recite most of the Toy Story movie at age 4.

Shouldn't the net for Trot be at the top of the stairs to stop the fall, rather than at the bottom to catch the bits?:)

No John, we're trying to keep him from even getting on the stairs, so that's why it's at the bottom.

Maybe I need to revisit the policy of letting them watch Toy Story.

Ted, you just got spoiled with having sweet, tender hearted Ciera first.

Boys are different. Libby was a handful, but nothing like Jared when he was younger. I think he ran everywhere he went at Rakes' age, and had shins covered in bruises.

Funny, I remember Mom saying that if she'd had you boys first, there might not have been any more. :) Apparently this rowdiness runs in the family.

Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.

John, re-read what I posted and it sounded sort of harsh: sorry if it came across that way. Angie is trying to keep him from getting up the stairs because he goes up just fine: it's coming down we need to work on!

Stacy, what are you trying to say?: you telling me I'm getting paid back?! I'll just keep breathing through my eyelids and hoping for the best.

Ted - Maybe Angie will be sending you to pick up Rakes from now on (I would have reacted the same lol). And the net sounds like a good idea!

Stacy said...

Not necessarily; just that boys are boys and boys are loud and rough and pester their sisters. :)

Hi there...sorry I haven't commented in so long, but I visit nearly every day. Our Sox are hot!!!!!

Carol,

If she could send me she would: with my job I'm usally never in town at noon! Baby D is a girl so you most likely will never have these issues: boys are like nothing I've ever seen!

Knock on wood that D's future teacher doesn't tell me the same (she is rambuncious). And may the mafia enforcer be on his best behavior for Mothers Day!

Ted D said...

Carol, let's hope so: we go to her Mom's tomorrow and my Mom's on Sunday: we don't get to go out for HER until next weekend!

And I'm sure Baby D will be just fine: those dominant female genes will win out!

No problem Ted, I didn't read it that way.
Just so you have something else to look forward to, Kiana's favourite game used to be surfing down my sister's stairs, feet first, belly down:)

If you would stop teaching him to play grandslam in the living room it would help. See inside voice and calm play for INSIDE and grandslam voice and play for OUTSIDE! But I know its a dad thing, see look at your past seven generations and count the number of pro sport players and then hand your son a set of golf clubs.

Whee, any other problems I can handle for you while I am here!

Ted D said...

Thanks John: like I needed another thing to worry about! Is Kiana that beautiful little girl you are carrying in the picture at your homepage?

Bubba, once again you are making me think too hard: are you saying that Rakes has a better shot being a pro golfer? Have you SEEN me play golf? Not pretty.

Hope the fleecing went well today, Mr. Big Shot Owner.

Yes, Ted, that's Kiana. In the absence of grandkids of my own, she gets all my grandpa-like attention!

Ted D said...

I can tell by the picture you are quite fond of her.

Grandpa Horshamscouse: gotta a nice ring to it!

2-2 Sox for those not paying attention. (Scott, Corn Muffin)

Thanks Ted! I've been really enjoying it. I usually just lurk over here, but will try to be better about a word or two
