Happy Birthday to me

I arrived home today and was greeted with this: a Happy Birthday banner from Angie and the kids. Saying it made my day would not do it justice: Ciera and her Mom had written some really sweet things about me, and Rakes had told his Mom what to write for him.

"Thank you for playing baseball, soccer, kickball, football, basketball, tickle monster, and the claw with me Daddy". Think I have to worry about him wanting to be in ballet class some day?

My actual birthday is tomorrow, and while I'm not doing cartwheels about turning 37, I'm not gonna go out and buy a Corvette, put highlights in my hair, or start pondering the great mysteries of life either.

I've got a wonderful wife, 3 beautiful children, a roof over my head, food in the pantry, and Red Sox baseball every night: I'd say I've got it pretty good. Growing older in age doesn't bother me: it's growing old in maturity I want to avoid. According to Angie, I'm in no danger of that happening anytime soon.

Sox win 7-3 tonight. For my birthday, all I ask is a Schilling win vs. Pettitte. And he drills Slappy between the numbers for his bush league play of rolling through 2nd base and elbowing the Munchkin: first the girly slap of Arroyo in '04 and now this: he is without a doubt the biggest peckerwood this side of Billy Martin I've ever seen. Like little Russell used to tell Rudy on "The Fat Albert Show": Alex, you're like school on Saturday: No class.

Forget between the numbers: I hope Schill puts one in his earhole.

I can't WAIT to read the NY Post tomorrow.

Yeah, I don't think you're in any danger of being accused of "maturity." Evidence for this belief: when you called me tonight, and I heard you frantically searching for your Red Sox Coozie. No worries, old man, you're young at heart.

Happy B-Day, big bro! The Tree Newt loves his HamHock!

Tex, if they win tomorrow, I'll head to bed a happy man: Thanks for the Birthday wishes Tex, and you too Kaylee.

And Tex: you are most definately not old: I hope I'm as young as you at 48 ;)

I'm just stoked the Yankees can't claim sweep: I say Schilling pitches his best game of the year tomorrow.

Thanks peat moss: Hamhock loves his little brother right back.

So I guess this post is about Happy birthday to me happy birthday to me. Ok your reverse psycho worked. Happy Birthday Eddie jr. I think you should reconceder the highlits. Or maybe at least put pinstripes on the rice burner.
All this pent up anger over Arod is disturbing, I bet he wont sleep a wink tonight about some Jethro in bumfunk NC upset with Him! I was going to buy you something cool for your Bday, now it will have to be a year supply of Prep H

Bub, you are insane.

Ted D said...

Bubba, it was a bush league play. He slid hard into 2nd (no problem) then barrell rolled into Pedroia after passing 2nd.

Bush. No matter how you spin it, Bush. And I don't care if he gives a spit about NC, he'd better worry about Schilling tomorrow: Curt takes this stuff seriously.

I FULLY expect retaliation: And Curt DESPISES Arod, so I'm not exactly reaching here.

And Jr., so you're saying pondering deep things is a sign of a mid-life crisis?

Tex said...

ok ted...new post for me too

Ted D said...

Yes Oat Bran: you are 32 going on 80.

Just kidding: I just can't quite swing the " mature adult" like you!

Wow , Millie vanillie up past midnight! Whats up ,blue moon, hailys comet(whatever) Don't tell me you are watching the Ducks. I wrote you off on hockey.

Happy birthday Ted!
I'm with about ARod, the man's a tosser. Curt should bean him in the sixth with a 6 run lead, preferably after pitching him up and in all night, just to get him psyched about when the actual HBP is going to come.

Happy Birthday, little brother! I'm with Angie; you are in no danger of actually "growing up", just growing older.

Love you Bud.

Ted D said...

Thanks for the birthday wishes John: and the kind of player Schilling is, I would be shocked if he doesn't retaliate in one way or another. That was just a total bush league move by Arod.

Stacy, what are you implying: that I'm a little immature? :)

Happy Birthday, Old Man!

Bub, for your info, I was up watching the Ducks dispatch the Wings. That was almost as satisfiying as seeing Ottowa knock off Buffalo.

Happy Birthday TED!!!!!!!!!

Ill be in training all day but ill check back in for the game

Ted D said...

Thanks for the birthday wishes Stacy, Tex, and Matt: I only feel 57 so it's all good.

I sure am glad their is basketball on tonight!

Ted D said...

Would you shut up Grandpa? It's a blip, though 3 straight subpar outings by Schilling has got me a little concerned.

I just hate that the Yankees have a little bit of hope right now.

Happy Birthday Ted! Hope you had a wondeful day!

Not happy with the Sox right now...grrrrrr :-(

and Julio Lugo...needs...to...go...

Hope everyone is well!

Ted D said...

Thanks Christine: it went really well until tonight!

Still, 9.5 game lead, best record in the AL, and a 6-3 series record vs. NY.

It's not all doom and gloom: and Lugo will be OK. Remember the first inning HR the other day.
