Stepping Up

*Photo from the Boston Globe*

I have no clue why there is no comment link on the previous post: gremlins in the computer is the only thing I can come up with.

Erik Hinske was the hero of the day last night: makes a GREAT diving catch, with his head bouncing off the field for good measure, to save some runs early in the game, then hits a 2 run bomb to put the Sox up 4-2.

Donnelly, Lopez, and Okajima closed it out, and just like that the Red Sox are 28-12 with the best record in the game.

I love the look of unbridled joy on Hinske's face and Tito's almost fatherly pride as he congratulates Hinske after the game. I'll say it again: this team has the potential to be a special group.

Here's to hoping the rains stay away in Boston long enough for them to get this weekends games in.

I just love the fact Hinske got his night!!

Me too Tex: he's always one of the first guys out of the dugout to congratulate one of the guys for scoring a run. A great TEAM player.

Hope you have a great day.

The day game was great, I was there pumping my fists!

It makes me want to go to every game... I'd have to sell my house and live on the streets of Boston to afford it.

Love the picture of Crazy Julian on the previous post; was he into the game or what?

Also love this one of Tito and Hinske (who, by the way, I've never heard of. I'll expect a complete history at work on Monday.) But if he's a TEAM player, he's my kind of guy. :)

John, if I lived in Boston, I'd be right there with you living in a box: probably good I'm so far away.

Closest I get is Baltimore and/or Atlanta every year.

Stacy, I'll fill you in Monday on EH.

One of us has to get season tickets! BTW Ted, how did you become a Sox fan? Enquiring minds want to know!

Carol, I grew up in Oklahoma and the closest team we had to us was the Rangers. I was 5 in in 1975 and can remember bits and pieces of watching the Red Sox/Reds. Just sort of evolved over time from casual fan to obsession.

My football team is the Redskins, so my sister says I can't be a fan of teams unless they are the underdogs!

Sorry Tex! I'll be 37 next week if it helps any: plus with 3 small kids I GUARANTEE you I feel older than you do!

I am so glad you admitted that Jr. If a team doesn't get beat like a drum, you never liked them. How that fits with your Napoleon complex I don't know!

AT Least he sticks to one team SCOTT!

Scotty, your years of being a front running bandwagon jumper has left you jaded my friend.

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

Ja ja ja jaded. Thats a song my friend. I can't help it if my loyalty is as wide as the Grand Canyon.

It makes me sad to be related to you sometimes.

You win a championship and I promise I will be wearing your hat . Even if you are the Naga Saga Dragons.

Kaylee is this a weak attempt at saying you are sorry for your misguided statement about Mr Mantle.
