Forget 2007: Bring on the Mayor's Cup.

A Spring Training tradition, the battle for the Mayor's Cup between the Red Sox and the Twins is, in theory, a way to pump up interest in what amounts to a glorified practice between the two clubs. With the guys who'll end up making the big boy team on the 6th hole at the local golf course by the time it's over, the games aren't exactly nail biters.

Except for lunatics like me who watch every inning of every game NESN decides to show, including last nights 8-3 win by the Red Sox. Coming up? Tomorrow at 1 pm, and I'm already planning my post-service exit from church and I've got a Reserved for Ted tag taped to the chair and ottoman in the living room.

As the above picture shows, the players don't exactly view these contests with the same seriousness as I do. Turns out, Pap forgot his jersey for todays game (which the Red Sox won 7-6. 2-0 in the race for the cup, baby!) and had to borrow Manny's shirt.

Of course he did.

Finally, I'd be remiss in not mentioning that MY little Princess Ciera was chosen, out of ALL the 4th grade class, to read an essay before the ENTIRE school at yesterday's assembly in honor of Black History Month. Unlike her Dad, she was calm, cool, and collected and didn't stumble over a single word.

Think I was proud?

She's rockin' a Red Sox cap.

How could I NOT be proud?

What? You're not coming over to hang with me at mom and dad's? I'm hurt.

Dude, you wanna come watch the game? Get over here.

If not? I'll be relaxing to the dulcet tones of DO and the RemDawg.

Sorry, man. I love you.

Just not THAT much.

OMG. Jon in Manny's jersey. I am *dying*.

I can think of worse things that starting the preseason off 2-0 (technically 4-0).

You're clearly raising your children right, Ted. Good job. And I am in awe of your daughter because I never could do public speaking. Yuck.

twilight zone music begins. our minds are thinking alike again.

so I just want to know what was being said about me on the last post??? Im a dude??

Ted D said...

Dawn, I'm in awe of her too. I can speak well in small groups; she was up in front of the entire school, and acted like she was talking to ME. She takes after her mother, thank God.

Tex, I JUST left you a comment. This is getting WEIRD. ;)

Yeah, Wayne thought you were a dude. Don't worry, I had your back sis.

//Im a dude??//

At least you are saying this with the appropriate amount of shock, Tex. Although I frequently tell people, with all the sports I watch, the fact that my tv is set to ESPN, and the way I despise shoe shopping, I might get my "girl card" revoked soon.

Tex said...

what did i say to make him think that?

Ted D said...

You got me.

You're all the time going on about Kielty and Beckett.

Maybe he just had a brain cramp?

You are really going to watch a equivalent of a softball game instead of going to see Newt? Thats wrong man.

Tex, dude looks like a lady. Hoot!

Way to go, Ciera!

And, Tex is a chick? Who knew?

It's cool...I'm used to it.

Ted D said...

Scott, yes I am. Newt knows where I live, and he's more than welcome to come on over.

Horsham, I was a proud papa. I've met Tex; she's no dude. ;)

//Sweeps in when everyone is at church///

Tex. My bad. I did know your a female, but at the time I was typing my comment my brain was apparently mush, and the brain wasn't engaged fully.

My bad lol!

Anyway, Ted that Timlin shot is classic. I just can't see Manram as a hunter though...

Nice job Ciera! I can pick you up a Braves hat on our way through Georgia.

Ted D said...

Wayne, underneath all that Texas bluster, she's a sweetheart. ;)

Mountain Bikes? Wayne, just typing the words makes my legs ache.

Edge, no Braves hats!!

Nice new profile pic. Fun = Josh Beckett. Jess wishes he could pitch every night. I keep on reminding her that there's a pitching rotation so they don't kill themselves out there.

Ted D said...

Stephen, sounds like Jess and Tex have something in common.

But yeah, there is that little detail about rotator cuffs.

Happy Texas Independence Day!!!! :)

Ted D said...

Like you needed a reason to brag about Texas!

Ted D said...

Tex, I'll get on when Heckle and Jeckle lay down so I can actually take the time to really read it.

Krystle [RSO] said...

Go Ciera!

*shakes head at Wayne*

Ted D said...

Krystle,

She done good, and her Dad was really proud.

Krystle [RSO] said...

yay! she probably did better than I would.

Am I the only one who nearly died of laughter watching Dustin dance? Seriously, there's a reason some white man, just don't dance. He's one.

Ted D said...

Krystle, calling what he did "dancing" is an insult to dancing everywhere.

I've been looking like crazy and can't find pictures of it anywhere.

OK Jr just a question. Report on Black History Month in Peckerwood NC given by a blond hair blued milky white girl. I guess the more things change the more they stay the same.

I think you have Newt to high on the food chain.

Ted D said...

Bub, they picked the child who had done the best work, displayed the best attitude, and was most interested in the things they did in honor of Black History Month.

So stick that in your pipe and toke it.

Tex said...

pipe? toke? I no not what that means ;)

Ted D said...

What are you saying, Tex? ;)

Krystle [RSO] said...

I can give you a link for pictures if you want?

Ted D said...

Krystle, that'd be great. The only one I've found is of Lowell dancing. No Pap or Pedroia yet.

Thanks, Krystle. I've read her blog before; good stuff.
