Dear Cleveland. Josh Beckett says Hello.

The last time Josh Beckett saw the Cleveland Indians, it was Game 5 of the 2007 ALCS. Up 3 games to 1, Cleveland was practically popping champagne corks; then they screwed up.

To sing the National Anthem, they picked one of The Commander's ex-girlfriends. All Beckett did was pitch 8 innings with 1 run, 5 hits, 1 walk, and 11 strikeouts, plus give one of the all-time best post-game press conferences EVER. This was Beckett's response to the ex-girlfriend stunt by Cleveland. (Just in case you don't know Beckett, the clip is NSFW).

Flash forward to tonight; Red Sox are one win away from clinching the AL Wild Card and the only thing standing in their way is the Indians.

With Josh Freaking Beckett on the hill.

To quote my good friend Tex?

I'm ready for Joshtober.

EDITORS NOTE: We'll get 'em tomorrow. And God help the post-game buffet table when Beckett gets through with it.

And I offically hate the Cleveland Indians.

I'm scared... Lee vs. Wake. Hell I'd be scared REGARDLESS of who Lee was pitching against on our force... the man is a BEAST!!

Doing it the hard way. Couldn't beat a guy with a >6 ERA but they'll screw with Lee's Cy Young pretensions and beat him to clinch.

(I have a dream, I have a dream :))

Tex, tough one to watch last night; I thought we had 'em when we loaded the bases in the 8th (?) but wasn't meant to be.

Sarah, like Horsham I harbor some hope the boys will make the REAL Cliff Lee stand up. He's having a great year, but c'mon. He's Cliff Freaking Lee. And hopefully Timmeh is Timmeh tonight; my stomach needs to get this over with sooner rather than later.

To brighten this. Johnny Pesky's number is going to be retired this weekend =]. That's beyond exciting.

Krystle, I think that is awesome. Mr. Pesky deserves to be honored that way.

For the love of Pod, Ted - it's says, not say's.

*cringes just typing say's*

*cringes again*

Yes I know, English isn't your strong suit, but baseball is, and I guess that's what matters.

So is the division possible? I say yes. Will we win it with 6 games to go including tonight?

Who is Tampa playing tonight? (Never thought I'd be asking that last week of the season in the homestretch.)

Redbeard, if blogger had a punctuation check I'd have it made. Since you're the only one so far to comment about it, maybe more of us are English challenged.

Rays play the Orioles; already lost game 1 5-2. I still want the division, but it looks like the WC this year.

I fixed the title for Redbeard; don't want his shrink bill on my conscience. ;)

I love that you put this clip up, by the way. I also have to say that since I have begun reading and posting comments to your blog, my use of "colorful" language has been markedly reduced. I couldn't come up with an appropriate time to mention that, but here, where you put up Beckett being Beckett, it seemed like no better time might come :) So thanks for that!

Sarah, glad I could help! And I love this clip as well; the look of total disgust on Beckett's face is PRICELESS.
