I hope you Dance: And we are.

Tonight, the Boston Red Sox punched their playoff ticket for the 4th time in 5 years: the Sox beat the Devil Rays 8-6, and combined with a Tigers loss, the Red Sox, no matter what happens in the next week, WILL be in the post season this year.

Down 6-5 going into the ninth, Tek hit a game tying Home Run, and ex-Devil Ray Julio Lugo hit a 2 run shot to get us to the final score, 8-6 Red Sox.

At the start of the MLB season, 30 teams dream of making the post season: tonight, with over a week to go, THIS Red Sox fan can go to bed knowing his team will have a chance for the ring.

As a fan, that's about as much as you can ask for: now, Tito can set the rotation, get key guys some rest, and give his team the best chance to win. All that said, I want to win the division in the worse way possible: hopefully the Yankees will continue to spit the bit.

If they do, great: if not, who cares? The Boston Red Sox are in the post season, and that gives me tremendous hope.

As my friend JET told me in an email: a 2007 Championship would really help offset a long, cold New England winter.

October brings lots of sweet birthday and a WS ring

A WS would make summer bearable for me:)
My hot stove this year might well be a barbecue.

The clinch is Sweet, Sweet music to my ears!!!

Now all we have to concern ourselves with is winning the division and setting the rotation for the playoffs: what a relief to at least know you're in with a week left to go.

It's so true Tedders! Like that 2004 Dunkin Donuts commercial where the guy stuck in traffic suddenly starts pounding on his steering wheel and smiling as he thinks about the Sox having won the World Series...a WS title wraps everything in the warm fuzzies. :)

Well JET: they've taken step one: they are in the post season.

Just got home and the boys down for a nap. 2-0 Rays going into the 4th: how did they score?

Post-season baby! Feels good. :)

Young, 2 run HR. The dork.

Ted D said...

Ah, Young. I was hoping that if they had to score, that Haverhill would have been able to do the honors.

Ugh: 4-0 now. Wonder if they are having any kind of mental letdown after last night?

JET said...

Well, at least they won the series. All we need to do is win most of the series and we'll get into the playoff...oh wait...we're in.

Ted D said...

That is exactly right JET.

We are in. And if we win the rest of the two series we have left, we'll win the division as well.

Evening everyone:

Whoo Hoo! And a clinch of the postseason it is!

Too bad we could not sweep the D-Rays...and wish Wake would get back into the winning he had before his back started acting up...

Now, if we can just hold off and win the division..:-)

Hope everyone is well..

Go Sox!

Christine, I do too. I'm more concerned with making sure Tito has the rotation set for the playoffs. This is a luxury we didn't have in '05.

Getting Beckett for 2 starts in a 5 game series, and 3 in a 7 is BIG.

Wake pitched OK today: not great, but good enough to win. I'll never understand how we can beat Scott Kazmir, but the likes of Edwin Jackson give us problems!

Christine E. said...

Hey Ted:

I never understood that either--we beat the Aces, but the guy who is 3-15 with the 7+ ERA we can't beat...

Go figure....

Here's hoping the Yankees SLUMP horribly this cool would THAT be?

Day off tomorrow....YUK!
Did you hear? We are going the postseason!!!!!

Go Sox!

It boggles the mind Christine. It really does.

I read this the other day: remember in '04 when the Sox got THIS close at the end but couldn't quite catch them? That's the MFY's this year.

Going to the post season? WOOOOOT!

Well, I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. There, I said it. I'm glad the boys are in.

But I still want a pennant.

New post corn muffin.

And it takes a big man to admit he's wrong: I'll be saving this post to bring up at the appropriate time.
