Breakdown in the system

Due to the ineptitude of the goobah, who, while installing my neighbor's Internet connection cut MY line, I've had no access to the home computer since yesterday.

(Yes Tex: it WAS someone else's fault! Stacy was supposed to make that clear when she posted I would be web less for awhile. Anyone get the number of that bus she threw me under?)

I was told yesterday that the technician would arrive between 7:30 and 9:30 this morning. You guessed it: he showed up promptly at 9:29, just left, and I now have 100 yards of cable laying across my yard. When I asked when they would come bury it, I was told "in about 2 weeks", which made me think of the movie "The Money Pit" where all the construction guys would tell Tom Hanks their work would wrap up in about "2 weeks" and it NEVER did.

Meanwhile, my OCD already has me worried that the mowers will just run over the thing tomorrow and I'll be back to square one.

BUT: I've got the Internet again, at least for 1 day.

Ted is happy, albeit with a MAJOR problem.

Sounds to me like you got caught hooking into your neighbors cable line to me!

What a coincidence TD - The cable company just buried my cables today (it was a 2-week wait too). Oh yeah - That sucks :D

Tex: I swear that's what happened! And Bub, I've got a satellite, remember? But that's not a bad idea for the internet!

Carol, it kills me that it takes them that long to do something so simple. Hope you are well, and Baby D is keeping you busy.

Evening everyone:

Hey Ted: You were missed...:-)

and that was a double DECKER bus you got thrown under...LOL

2 more hours--I hate to say it, but we...need...this...win...

Hope everyone is well!

Go Sox!

Thanks Christine: felt out of sorts not having the computer on.

If it makes you feel any better Christine, the Blue Jays are winning 9-2 in the bottom of the 4th.

But I agree: we NEED this game, if only for the team to feel positive going to Baltimore.

Hey Ted:

It's now 14-4--That makes me feel better...LOL

IT si so ungodly hot here in PA these last few days--better be this way the the shore..:-)

Go Sox!

Hopefully no rain and plenty of sun for you for the weekend.

Good to see the Blue Jays play like a Major League team.

Now for the Sox to win:

Let's go Red Sox!

Jr I think we would all be better served if you would leave the tech. stuff to the pro's.

Garrison and I spoke with Rakes this afternoon, I would have paid big bucks for a translator!

Ted D said...

I heard about the phone call: Ang said all Rakes wanted to know was if Garrison would be at Nanny's tomorrow night to spend the night!

He's a BIT hard to understand over the phone: I speak Rakes fluently, and I can't pick it up half the time.

That's too bad - You & Rakes won't have a chance at replacing that other father & son in those cute Verizon internet commercials then!

Carol: I don't know if I've seen that commercial. Of course, whenever the show I'm watching goes to break, I'm off on a "scroll through 200 other channels as fast as I can for the next 2 minutes" mode, so I probably have seen it.

It's pretty funny actually: I have to ask Ciera to translate what he say's half the time: she's like my own personal translator!

TD - The kid to his Dad:

You should see his truck!

Ted D said...

Carol: I actually HAVE seen that one: funny stuff!

Cable is very rare here. I picked this rental because it already had satellite.

6:00 pm here, Sox up 9-6, middle of the ninth.
Doing night shift duty for you guys, and keeping the faith.

I didn't think I threw you under the bus; I just said you would be without internet. I didn't realize you wanted me to tell the story in excruciating detail. :)

See if I post for you again...

LOL Ted done gone and pissed off Stacy... :)

Nice work Horsham! "The voice from tomorrow" works again!

Tex, it's pretty much a daily thing: it's just the level of difficulty varies!

Not one bit surprised Ted ;)

gotta love the cable company...good thing they don't have to rebuild that bridge in Minnesota!

If anyone tried to get on today, blogger went bonkers sometime after John posted, and Stacy called and said she couldn't get on.

Miracle of miracles, I came home, and SOMEHOW figured out how to fix it.

::sticks tongue out at Tex for doubting my 'puter skills::

So if you did, sorry.

And John, cable co. are about as bad as insurance co. They've got you over a barrell.

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

Hate to bust your bubble. IT was broke but YOU had nothing to do with fixing it.

BUT I would suggest that you get a wi fi fibulator so this does not happen in the future. Ask at any computer store they would LOVE to help you with that request.

Ted D said...

Yes it was: Tex isn't working either. Or Carol's, but Matt's is: blogger is whacked out. All I had to do was pick a new template, then change it back.

There is no such thing as a wi fi fibulator.

::googles wifi fibulator to be sure::

Ted, it's right under "wango di tango" in the dictionary. :)
