Little man, Big voice

How can you not love a movie that has the following exchange?

[man and woman walk by]
Harry: Ooh, look at the buns on that one...
Lloyd: Yeah, he must work out.

As fond as I am of that moronic movie, it does have one very HUGE falsehood: remember that part where Jim Carey asks the hood riding in the dog-van with them if he wants to hear the most annoying sound in the world, then proceeds to make the most God awful noise come out of his mouth?

It's a lie. It may be annoying, grating, and an assault on the ears, but it's not the most annoying.

Baby Trot has it beat by a landslide: braying like some deranged myna bird in heat that gargled with sand paper and rusty nails, he lets loose with this scream of agony whenever he is hungry, tired, needs a diaper change, wants a toy, or just for the heck of it.

I mention this because tonight he was in prime time form: I'm sure he's still aggravated over being sick the past 5 days, and since he can't speak yet, this is his way of letting me know he's not a happy camper. However, after having a rather crappy week at work, the actual sound makes me a tad bit jumpy.

Of course, it's in concert most of the time with Ciera talking IN A REALLY LOUD VOICE about the latest episode of Hanna Montana, Rakes re-enacting the climatic final scene of "Bibleman", and Angie telling me exactly what all three of them did that day: so by itself, it may not be that bad.

I love the boy to death, but when he lets loose with that other worldly sound, I'm looking for a chalkboard to run my nails down it, just to drive out the noise.

They just showed Chicago, and it looks like the 4th of July in the background with all the lightning: the game has been postponed, and somewhere Ernie Banks is smiling. They'll play 2 tomorrow, weather permitting, with Beckett getting the nod in game 1.

I wonder what kind of reasonable excuse I can come up with to make it home for the game?

Screw that, I'm self employed.

Friday is officially HERE!

The boys head looks to be bump free for one day at least.

I always use my best material just before you write a new blog. Maybe LazyBoy will look back at what he missed.

I agree, tomorrow looks like a good day to take off.

Bubba, I've actually got an appointment in the am, and nothing after that: since fruit loops only works 1 1/2 days a week, I think I may knock off early and catch the game.

I think the fact I'm an hour ahead of you causes your best material to be seen by fewer eyes.

Either I need to move out there, or you need to move out here and make me your general manager.

Ted, if you worked for Scott you would be outside most of the day. Outside is not your favorite place to be, remember? :)

I've not heard this particular Trot scream, but I totally understand the daughter TALKING IN A REALLY LOUD VOICE and the son that talks/asks questions incessantly. :) You and I are alike that way; we;ve GOT to have some quiet.

Enjoy the double header. The first one is during nap time, so you should be good to go.

If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime

Stacy, according to the weather channel, we'll be lucky if they play at all today: Chicago in the summertime is a bit unpredictable. And you've heard the scream: you've just blocked it from your memory!

Tex, a little Bachman Turner Overdrive to start Friday off is a good start! Have a great day.

Ok, first of all, what kind of establishements do you think I stay in? The last time I saw a vibrating bed was 1987, and we were in Anaheim Cali with the youth group at that fine motor court known as "The CandyCane Inn."

Second, I'm too cheap to spring for the quarters.

Third, I didn't eat at my favorite place, because fellas, it just ain't the same without the wife.

Fourth, I know that sound, and Trot does get props as having the most annoying one in the world.

And by the way, I don't work 1 1/2 days. It's 1/2 day on Tues, all day Wed, 1/2 on Thrusday. Get your calculator out. That's TWO days.

Jr I told you J.D. was impersonating a ball player. When will you ever listen to me.

PeatMoss I want to believe you , but I can hear the quiver in your voice from two rolls of quarters.

Ted D said...

YOU said JD was a good sign!

Dementia may be setting in early for you, old son.

Mattie, I remember that pit: what a hole that place was. You gotta admit bro, that quarter line was gold!

Hi Christine,

It's a thing of beauty, isn't it? Back to back big games from the offense: I hope it's a sign of things to come.

Ciera is having her sleep over for her birthday tonight: I have 4 nine year olds wreaking havoc as I type. Thankfully, the boys are sleeping at the grandparents house tonight.

Hey becks,

Yeah, it's been a pretty good friday if you are a Sox fan.

Have a good weekend yourself.

all the while Ted's blaming me for other's texting mishaps :)

Ted D said...

Not blaming you Tex: you are like Forrest Gump. Always around when something happens!

That is some funny stuff: poor JET!

Schilling did well today... 7ip only giving up the 1 run homer to Uribe..I relaly hope this is a taste of things to come...

A 4 game sweep would not be unwelcome.:-)

Go Sox!

Ted D said...

Yeah Christine, don't think I'll be getting to bed early tonight!

If this is the Schilling we'll get the rest of the year, with Beckett, Daisuke, and Wake to go with the pen we have, we are in excellent shape.
