Sleepless while they are in Seattle

With the Red Sox starting a 9 game road trip with the first 6 being on the West Coast, and two of the three vs. Seattle starting at 10:00 p.m. est, I'm glad today is Friday: I at least don't have to get up and go to work in the morning.

Coco Crisp has played CF the past 2 years in a way that would make Ken Griffey Jr. proud: plays like the one in the picture are a routine thing. Since they are playing a team with one of the best OF in baseball, Ichiro Suzuki, I thought I'd throw a little love toward Covelli. With his bat catching up to his fielding, I expect Mr. Crisp will play a big role in the fortune's of this team over the next 2 months.

As someone who gets to see every game, you almost start taking his play in the field for granted: that is, until he makes a play like this. Ball in the gap, running full speed, know where the wall is, and time the leap perfectly to make the catch. Something tells me the broken down former long hair who's hinting at a trade down in New York doesn't get to that ball. Not this year.

Tomorrow afternoon the ol' ball and chain and the three Tasmanian devils come home from the beach, which means my bachelor life is over for at least another year: no more quiet, no more watching what I want on tv, and it's back to picking up the same toys 50 times a day.

I can't wait until they get here.

A week is a long time to go without a goodnight hug.

1st poster! Whoo Hoo!

Evening everyone..

Holy buckets! STILL another hour till game time....only good thing is it allows me to do stuff around the house early so I can focus my attention on the game when it comes on...

Maybe we can win one in safeco field--I hope...

You have done well this week Ted, your not even drooling and talking to yourself (much) ;-D

Hope you are well!

Go Sox!

Hey Kaylee:

How are you doinhg? Been thinking about you and your surgery coming up--how are you feeling?

Ted D said...

Christine, everytime you type "Holy buckets" I laugh! I'm just glad it's past 9 and the pre game show is on: there is only so much VH1 a person can take.

Yeah, 8 games in row of losses at Safeco is enough I think: I've got good feelings about Lester tonight.

And I've tried: however, I've got to admit I have found myself in a deep conversation with no one in particular!

Kaylee, you live in Arizona: aren't you only 1 hour behind the West Coast? Plus, you're young: you should be just getting going when the game ends.

Hey Ted:

I have no idea where "Holy Buckets" came from--but it amuses me to say, and it sound much better than "Holy Sh*t" ya know?

Talking to yourself (and yourself answering back) is the sign of high intelligence..I do it all the time...LOL

VH1? I have hours and hours of TiVo if I need something to do...:-)

//Talking to yourself (and yourself answering back) is the sign of high intelligence//

Not something that I hear very often, Christine! And keep it up: makes me laugh!

I'm not a big TiVo guy: the wife, however, has a whole season of "Men in Trees", "Grey's Annatomy" and "Desperate Housewives" clogging up the memory.

Wonder if I delete them all before tomorrow and tell her the power went out will work as an exscuse?

Christine E. said...

Probably not--when I moved into my house, the Tivo was unplugged for 2 days and everything was still there--I have even had power outages--and its all still there

Deleting TiVo may be a divorcable action..LOL

Now that its summer, I am catching up on stuff I don't get to during the year..

1/2 hour!

Ted D said...

Yeah, but SHE doesn't know that Christine: I think I can pull it off!

15 minutes now by my clock: WOOOOT!

KAYLEE said...

YES TED BUT I NEED SLEEP and christine I am doing good hanging in there but cant wait for the surgery.

Christine E. said...

Glad to hear you are hanging in Kaylee...:-)

Perhaps your breathing and fever problems will get better once you have the surgery?

Game time!

KAYLEE said...

I hope so christine:-)

Ted D said...

Hey Tex! And if she say's that, I will do a cartwheel: I'm not cut out for the life of a single man.

KAYLEE said...

TED can do a cartwheel?

Ted D said...

Yep: and a push up.

KAYLEE said...

Dude, I had to post just to add some testosterone to the blog tonight. Where is Bub? I keep waiting for one of his zingers to come out of left field.

I know you'll be waiting at the curb for the fam to arrive tomorrow. You probably won't sleep from worrying about it.

I, on the other hand, am going to sleep like a baby (assuming our baby sleeps) in preparation for a week of tree-hugging and acorn collecting.

Ahhh...can you smell that fresh mountain air?

Ted D said...

Corn Meal, I look forward to a weeks worth of blogs on acorns, tree hugging, and watching the grass grow.

Anything less and I'll be dissapointed.

KAYLEE said...

//in preparation for a week of tree-hugging and acorn collecting.//

LOL ID LOVE TO READ ABOUT THAT!

Tree Newt said...

Don't worry...I've got the wango-d-tango and digital camera...you guys will have acorns galore!

Ted D said...

Bring on the nature blogs!

KAYLEE said...

where you going mattie?

Tree Newt said...

The mountains of beautiful NC. I cannot wait.

"I feel a sense of excitement that is only felt by someone at the beginning of a long journey."

It's been a while since we had a Shawshank reference.

Jr. New post on the perch, by the way

Ted D said...

I hope.

And I'm heading to the perch.

Though your bad luck may be catching:

4-3 M's, going into the 5th.

Tree Newt said...

It's not me. No TV. Not so much as a glance at the score on the ticker.

Is Kaylee watching?

Tree Newt said...

I'm out. Need sleep. Eyes burning. Go Red Sox.

Ted D said...

I think so bro: 4-4 in the 5th.

Get some rest: I'll carry you through: just know, you'll owe me.

KAYLEE said...

NO i am not!!!!!!!!!!

Stacy said...

Ted, I don't think Angie will be flattered by you calling her "the old ball and chain". I called her last night to tell her I missed her and was ready for her to come home and she said SHE was ready to come home. So be prepared for lots of Daddy duty. I think the 2 heathens wore her out.

Oh, and if you erase her TIVO'd shows, I'll tell. :)

Tex said...

ok yeah ball and chain aint nice BUT we ALL know Ted was joking....cos if I've heard it once on SG I've heard it a hundred times how much he missed her and the kids!

Have fun today Ted rounding up your heathens....and wait...I thought ya had 3 heathens not 2? :)
i guess Trot aint old enough to be a heathen? Ohhh wait...the boys are the heathens Right?

Ted D said...

They're on the way Tex: got a late start, so it looks like about 2 before they get home. And yes, I WAS JOKING STACY.

Stacy only counts the boys as the heatherns, I count all three Tex.

Hope you have a nice Saturday.

Stacy said...

Tex, I knew he was joking, but I have to give him a hard time...you know, older sister and all.

Actually the boys are not heatherns, they're just boys.

BTW Tex, Ted showed me your "video". All I have to say is no one will mistake you for a native Bostonian at the games. :)

Tex said...

Well I will looking after my nieces 8 and 12 yr old today until she gets off of work. I called my sis who has her 2 grandkids...we're gonna take them swimming at my brothers. That should tire them out eh?

I knew you were giving him a hard time Stace...and between you(his real sis) and I(his adopted sis) Ted does NOT have a chance. (but I think he secretly likes it)

Ted...word of advice..when the family arrives Do NOT be on or GET on the computer... comprende'?

Ted D said...

Tex, once they get home, no computer until nap time, I promise!

And I'm a firm believer in taking them swimming and wearing them out: it works like a charm.

I'm 37 and have a real and adopted sister telling me what to do:

This is a Dr. Phil episode waiting to happen.

Tex said...

better Dr Phil than one of those really crazy shows :)

Ted D said...

Yeah, but Tex: don't you think we'd be a hoot on Springer? :)

Tex said...

a hoot or my hoots? :)

Ted D said...

A hoot Tex:

you are incorrigable.

And yes, I've been reading the bathroom dictionary again.

Tex said...

incorrigible

try dictionary.com :)

we cant win Ted with me

Ted D said...

Foiled again!

WHEN are my children going to get here?

Carol Rally said...

Ted - I know that it will be great just to be with them again, but I hope they bring you a nice souvenier to put on your desk or something (and each time you look at it, may you remember this fleeting week/time in your life)- lol. Happy reunion!

Sonya@Beyond the Screen Door said...

I agree. Bring Jr back a bunch of germs from the beach. He will be washing until the rapture.

Tree Newt said...

Bub...CLASSIC!

Ted D said...

Carol, they all came running at the same time, and in the span of minutes, my peaceful tranquil house was turned upside down.

It was awesome.

Scotty: they were all scrubbed down with govt issued anti germ soap before being allowed in.

Carol Rally said...

Ted - Where do I send your OCD mug? :D
